4 Reasons Why Doing What You Love Makes Entrepreneurship Ideal

Confucius once said, “Choose a job you love, and you will never have to work a day in your life.” As a famous philosopher he had a point, but I venture that doing what you love and are passionate about (drop the job part) is what changes a person’s perspective on work. You could choose a job in an industry that you love, but have a lousy boss who makes you miserable and robs you of your passion.

A job is a measure of work you do for someone else to earn money. A passion is something you do that makes you happy and if channeled correctly will also make money. Entrepreneurship is the vehicle to turn your passion into a business that supports the life that you love. Below are four reasons why doing what you love makes life better.

1- Monday mornings are no longer something you dread. Sure there will be times when you wish your weekends were an extra day longer, but if you are truly passionate about what you are doing you will be excited to start a new work week. Your brain will be full of ideas, ideas that excite you and will help your business grow. Instead of dragging yourself out of bed, you’ll be in the office early with a list of projects you thought of over the weekend.

2- You are your own boss. There are no more mandatory meetings where nothing gets accomplished, no more tedious reports to generate that are never read. No one will take credit for your accomplishments or blame their mistakes on you. As an entrepreneur, you are in charge of what you do. You have the authority to make the decisions that fuel the success of your company. You get to decide what is important and the best ways to achieve the goals that you set. Anything that doesn’t work, you do not have to continue to do. Anything that does work can be amplified.

3- Amazing people will want to work with and for you. As an entrepreneur the people you surround yourself with are vital to your company’s success. Great news, when you are passionate about what you are doing, that enthusiasm and joy attracts other individuals who are equally as passionate. You aren’t stuck dealing with an office full of difficult people who do the bare minimum to maintain their job position. You have the ability to hire the talent and personalities that make your entrepreneurial soul sing and who inspire you to think and achieve beyond your usual scope.

4- You have control. Control and power are two major forces in life. When you have built a company (and a life) around doing what you love, you have control over your income, your workload, your schedule, and your future. With control over all of these key life factors, you have ultimately given yourself the power to create a life that you love. No one has the power to make you work instead of spending time with a loved one. No one can leverage your job to make you do things that go against your values. No one can rob you of the joy your passion brings you. When you have control of your life, you have the power to enjoy every moment of it.
