We were lucky enough to sit down with best-selling erotic romance author, Trinity Blacio who is about to come out with a brand new novella, Surrender Your Independence, published by Riverdale Avenue Books. Here’s what she had to say about how her remarkable story came to fruition.
Who was your favorite character in the book?
That would be the heroine, Tamara Crozier. She is so strong and independent. Even after giving up her freedom, she still stands her ground with her men.
Who is your target audience and why?
My target audience is anyone who enjoys a great short erotic holiday story. It’s meant to be a quick read, maybe while preparing for the holiday picnic.
What about the time and place of the book is particularly romantic to you?
I used to live in Pompano Beach, Florida and I loved the beach at night. Fireworks were usually set off both on the Pompano and the Ft. Lauderdale Pier, giving a great view over the ocean.
Can you compare your writing process for this book to one of your other works? What has made this experience unique?
This story was a quick one. On occasion I can whip out a short story within a week or two. I wanted this story to be about special service men who are hidden from public view. An example of such men would be those who took out Saddam Hussein.
How did you start up on the idea for the book? Was there any particular person or event in your own life that has inspired you to write?
Actually, my publisher came up with the idea on the beach. I just came up with where and the elements. Vampires and werewolves are my favorite thing to write about and I love to read about them too. Seeing the fireworks in Florida was a great experience for me and I had to incorporate it into the story.
What has the writing process been like? What are some of the challenges and some of the successes you have had?
I usually set a limit of what I’d like to get done each day. Since I was on a short time table with this story, I tried to double what I usually do. My best writing has been done under pressure and in the morning when it’s quiet and no one is around. The challenge was getting it done in time for my deadline.
Who are some of your inspirations and favorite authors?
There are so many great authors out there. But the writes who really inspired me would be my all-time top three favorite: Jaid Black, Christine Feehan, and Sherrilyn Kenyon. Their books are amazing. I still try and make sure I get every release from them in print.
How has your view of romance changed through writing this book?
It hasn’t changed. I just can’t wait to get to work on the full novel for these characters, which will be coming out in December.
How has romance affected your own writing style?
With writing romance, it’s a challenge to come up with different ways to entice the reader. You don’t want all of your stories to be the same. I like to challenge myself to come up with different surprises. I’m writing my second book for my cat series as we speak, (Masters of the Cats: Collaring the Saber Tooth is available now) and had myself crying my eyes out at certain parts. If I can do that, then I know the story is going to be okay.
Are there any other elements you’d like to share?
Oh, there are many different things I will cover in the novel form this story. I even have a title picked out already. I’m going to throw a little mystery into the story line. I so can’t wait to start writing this story.
Keep an eye out for Trinity Blacio’s new novel, to be released in December! I know we’re all filled with anticipation.
