With the surge in popularity for George R. R. Martin’s epic series “Game of Thrones,” there has also been a curious amount of newborn baby girls with some very unusual names.
In 2011, before the series premiered, there were no babies ever named “Khaleesi.” However, by the end of 2012, there were 146 precious little babies who bore this name proudly. This made up name for “Queen” is a beautiful language all its own, and found its way into the heart of many fans and parents-to-be.
Baby name expert Laura Wattenberg explained that for centuries, even dating back to Shakespeare’s time, couples have chosen made up names for their children after popular fictional characters. So, it’s no surprise so many children are being named from this popular series.
Let’s wait and see how many more little Queens we have at the end of this year!
