LOVE IN THE AGE OF HIP HOP. IT’S OK FOR MEN TO SPEAK ABOUT THEIR EMOTIONS

Note Zayn Malik on Gigi Hadad

We’re not sure where it all began. Maybe fathers used to tell their sons that they should never cry in public or never show their emotions as it was a sign of weakness. Showing by example, fathers also didn’t talk about their emotions, their love for wife and children, along the way.

We’re glad this has been changing over the decades and it’s wonderful to actually hear men talk openly about how they feel. We think it’s also a healthy thing to do.

We thought about this when singer/songwriter and former One Direction group member Zayn Malik celebrated his super model girlfriend Gigi Hadid’s 22nd birthday recently wrote on a photo of the two of them “Happy Birthday to my everything.”

He is also quoted as saying about Gigi, “She’s a very intelligent woman. She knows how to carry herself. She’s quite classy. She’s not, like, arrogant in any way. She’s confident. She carries it well. She’s cool.”
