Did you know that “domestic violence is the leading cause of injury to women — more than car accidents, muggings, and rapes combined”?
Did you know that one third of female murder victims are killed by a romantic partner?
Did you know that the risk for a woman’s violent death skyrockets 270% when a gun is kept in the house?
Did you know the NRA is endorsing an “ex-girlfriend” target that bleeds when you shoot it?
As if violence against women isn’t a predominant issue.
“The Ex” vendor was present at the NRA convention in Houston this weekend, featuring this target in a pamphlet. The company, Zombie Industries, is known for its realistic targets that bleed when shot.
The company features fifteen targets, fourteen male and one female. There was another male zombie whose uncanny resemblance to President Obama got it taken down by the NRA. Although the website states, “To discriminate against Women by not having them represented in our product selection would be just plain sexist,” to have the one female be “the ex” doesn’t necessarily help the national statistic on violence against women.
Today, three women will be killed by an intimate partner in the United States. It’s time the NRA focused more on the gun control laws and less on their targets.
