Where Does Porn End and Mainstream Begin?

The line between mainstream and porn movies is getting thinner all the time. The upcoming Lars von Trier film, “Nymphomaniac,” starring Shia LabBeouf and Charlotte Gainsbourg is an example.

The tall, dark and handsome Shia agreed to shoot explicit sex scenes in the movie. “There’s a disclaimer at the top of the script that basically says we’re doing it for real. Everything that is illegal, we’ll shoot in blurred images. Other than that, everything is happening,” LaBeouf told MTV News.

Hey, guess what? Adult movie studios don’t shoot anything “illegal” either, or they’d be closed down.

So what’s the difference between “Nymphomaniac” and, say, a Vivid film starring Kimerly Kane or Savanna Samson? Guess we’ll have to see the movie and judge for ourselves. Other stars include Uma Thurman, Christian Slater, Willem Dafoe, Stellan Skarsgard and Jamie Bell.

Von Trier’s past movies include “Melancholia,” “Antichrist” and “Dogville.” A graduate of the Danish Film School, he has been compared to Ingmar Bergman. In addition to his role on the Disney Channel series Even Stevens, Shia is best known for his roles in Disturbia and Transformers. Anglo-French actress Charlotte won the Best Actress award at the 2009 Cannes Film Festival for Antichrist and also was in Von Trier’s Melancholia.
