For the Love of her Prince She Waited 33 Years to Marry

She was born a commoner, Lillian May Davies in Swansea, England. And then, in 1943 when she was 28 years old, she met the love of her life. He was royalty, Prince Bertil of Sweden,

Because of Swedish dynastic laws Lillian was not allowed to marry her Prince until 1976. But then, 33 years after they fell in love, Lilian (she dropped one “l” in her name along the way) became HRH Princess Lilian of Sweden. She died yesterday, March 10th, at age 97 and to the end she had a regal appearance and looked like she belonged in a royal family. Too bad it took her so long to earn the title, but from the look of all the diamond jewelry she wore in an official photo, that girl had a lot of best friends.

Read her obit in the UK’s Telegraph newspaper to learn more of this great story.
