This past holiday weekend marked not only celebrations of independence but also several celebrity weddings, one of which was Vanessa Williams (52). Williams, and partner of three years, Jim Skrip celebrated their big day with friends and family in his hometown of Buffalo, NY. The singer, actress, producer, and former fashion model proved she’s still got it with not one, but two absolutely gorgeous custom Carmen Marc Valvo gowns. One for the ceremony and one for the reception.
The former Miss America waltzed down the aisle in a breathtaking silky streamlined skirt and top combination that had a band of gold at the waist. Her deep blue smoky eye and long straightened hair were done by her glam squad of years, Sam Fine, and Chuck Amos. In an exclusive interview with PEOPLE magazine, she stated, “It was magnificent. I felt like an Egyptian goddess, and that was exactly the theme I was going for.”
Her second gown of the night matched the extravagance, with gold leather petals covering the bodice and skirt. Williams stated, “It almost looks like it’s metal, but they’re little petals made out of leather [sewed] on top of organza.”
When asked about her look, spouse Jim Skrip stated,
“Honestly, when I saw Vanessa walking down the aisle, I didn’t even notice her dress. We locked eyes and I got caught up in the moment, full of happiness and joy. When I finally noticed the dress, it was perfect for Vanessa: sleek, simple and sexy. She then had another surprise for me: she did a quick change into another beautiful gown for the vows ceremony. She was stunning!”
And there’s no arguing that the beauty queen stole the show. This is Williams third marriage with her first being with Ramon Hervery II in 1987 and Rick Fox in 1999. Here’s a look at her past wedding looks over the years:
