1- They Open Your Mind
A lot of people don’t actually know what turns them on, they don’t know what they like or what they want to try and experiment with. Sometimes it takes the power of suggestion, or a friend to say “hmmmm I thought that was weird, but I guess it is OK, I am not alone in this, I am going to try it”.
2- They Empower Women
Romance novels are usually written by women, for women, and they don’t give women feelings of inadequacies like other media does. The heroins don’t need to be modelesque or unrealistic, but rather they are relatable for women of all ages, shapes and sizes.
3- Excitement is Healthy
Dopamine releases that come from being excited or stimulated, whether from Gambling, sex, or even the cliff-hangers in your favorite stories are enough to stimulate your neurons, making you a healthier person. Not to mention, doing things that make your mind happy, in turn makes your body happy, leading to a healthier and happier life!
4- They can Teach You
This goes hand in hand with opening your mind, but where learning and opening your mind differ is that one is saying “hey this exists, it’s not abnormal”, where as teaching tells you “this is how you can have a healthy relationship with your partner, with sex, with love and even with romance”. You see knowing something exists and opening your mind to it is great, but really learning and benefitting from it can help you not only experience your fantasy you didn’t know you have, but even show you that you’re missing out on things in life and relationships, drastically improving your life.
5- They Increase your Sex Life
Acording to Dr Joyce Brothers, women who read romance novels have sex 75% more than women who don’t…I think that is the only real reason you need to read romance novels.
