Burger King’s ultimate fairy tale came true last Saturday when Ashley King and Joel Burger were wed in Jacksonville, IL.
When the fast food chain happened to see the couple’s engagement announcement in a local paper in April, they tweeted, “”Mr. Burger and Ms. King? Is this real life?” Shortly after, they contacted the couple through a video call and surprised them with a few complimentary gifts including customized mason jars and yo-yos for the big day. The biggest shock however, came towards the end of the conversation when the Burger King representative showed them a note reading, “Burger King wants to help give you a whopper of a wedding. In other words: It’s on us. The wedding, that is…”
Without much hesitation, the couple accepted the generous offer and on July 18th they celebrated their day with love and Burger King Crowns. In addition to the previously mentioned gifts, the groom and groomsmen styled Burger King customized cufflinks, undershirts, and socks. During photos the entire wedding party also rocked the famous crowns.
Although King would not share details of the agreement, she did tell ABC News that they were able to use the money in whichever way they wanted. With 400 guests, 10 bridesmaids and 10 groomsmen, the couple had the wedding of their dreams.
In an exclusive interview, Burger informed Today that although the bride will be taking his last name, they will always be “Burger-King.”
